What It’s Like to Be a Plus-Size Lash Boss in the Beauty Industry

Updated: Jun 24

When people think of the beauty industry, they often imagine a certain “look” — thin, polished, hyper-curated. But real beauty doesn’t come in one size, and neither does real success. I’m a plus-size lash artist, educator, and business owner — and I show up in this industry just as I am: confident, passionate, and unapologetically me.

This post is for anyone who's ever felt like they had to shrink themselves to fit in. Here's what it's really like to build a beauty brand in a body that doesn't fit the mold — and why I’m proud of every inch of it.

💄 Beauty Is Not One Size Fits All

Let’s be real: the beauty industry hasn’t always made space for plus-size professionals. Whether it’s marketing that only features a certain body type, uniforms that don’t fit, or a lack of representation at the table — it can feel like we weren’t even considered.

But instead of letting that stop me, I let it fuel me.

I built space for myself — and for others who want to walk into their lash career with full confidence, curves and all.

🖤 Confidence Isn’t a Size — It’s a Skill

Being plus-size doesn’t mean I’m any less professional, skilled, or worthy of success. It just means I walk into the room with a little more curve and a lot more presence. 💅🏽

Clients don’t book me because I “fit the aesthetic” — they book me because I deliver. I create a welcoming experience. I make them feel seen. My size doesn’t hold me back — it reminds me to take up space and own every room I walk into.

💬 The DMs I’ll Never Forget

I’ve had artists reach out and say:

“I’ve never seen someone who looks like me doing this at such a high level.”
“Thank you for showing up fully. You gave me the confidence to take clients.”
“You made me feel like I belong in this industry too.”

Every message reminds me why I do this. Representation matters. Visibility matters. Feeling seen matters.

💖 To Every Plus-Size Artist Out There:

You don’t need to shrink to succeed. You don’t need to change to be respected. You don’t need to apologize for who you are.

You are worthy. You are powerful. You are professional. And you are needed.

Whether you're behind the lash bed, teaching classes, creating content, or just starting your journey — know that there’s room for all of us. And we’re done asking for permission.

A Final Note

Being a plus-size lash boss in this industry isn’t always easy. But it’s powerful. It’s important. And it’s just the beginning.

I’m not here to fit in — I’m here to be seen, to serve, and to stay.
